The story behind the bottle:
The 2023 vintage marked a deep wound in our journey. After many months of dedication and work in the rows, spring and summer brought an unprecedented climatic challenge. Incessant rains created a hostile environment, with devastating consequences for our harvest. For the first time since 2013, our winery found itself almost devoid of the fruit of an entire season. The loss was huge, leaving the marks of a vintage that tested our resilience and our passion. However, in this complex scenario, nature knew how to surprise us. The very few grapes that managed to overcome the adversity concentrated within themselves an extraordinary energy and vitality. This exceptionality guided us toward an unprecedented choice: to vinify only two cuvées, a white and a red, which represent the rare expression of this unique harvest.
These wines are not just the result of a particular year; they embody the fragility of our relationship with the planet and invite us to reflect on the value of what we cultivate with care. What remains, the name we chose for the only two wines produced in 2023, is a warning about the precariousness of natural balances and the need to never take the fruit of the earth for granted.
The thousand-year history of wine is intrinsically linked to the rhythm of the seasons and the generosity of the climate. The experience of 2023 reminds us how vulnerable this tradition is in the face of the contemporary climate crisis, calling into question the continuity of viticulture in territories that are its cradle.
The 2023 cuvées are a living testimony of the few grapes that challenged an extreme vintage. Born from vines with different souls and soils and fermented freely, without any additions, they express the purity and resilience that the land has granted us. We like to think of them as rare and precious wines, witnesses of an unforgettable vintage and bearers of an important message.
Vinification:
Five days of skin maceration, manual punch-downs, gentle pressing with a pneumatic press, fermentation and aging in steel.
Tasting notes:
A wine that invites reflection, with an aromatic profile that evokes the complexity of the earth. On the nose, vegetal and undergrowth scents blend with earthy notes, a prelude to a rich and enveloping sip. On the palate, dark cocoa bean and leather intertwine in a dance of deep flavors, supported by a decisive but balanced tannic structure. A red wine that tells the story of a difficult vintage, transforming the challenge into an intense sensory experience.
